PWT President and Vice President Discuss National Physicians Week With Dr. Amber Robins
Updated: Sep 25, 2021
Physicians Working Together is thrilled to announce the 4th annual National Physicians Week Celebration beginning on March 25-31, 2019. Physicians Working Together started as a Facebook group in 2015 by Kimberly Funches Jackson MD. The group has now increased to more than 8700 members.
During National Physicians Week 2019, PWT will work to strengthen healthy physicians’ relationships through collaboration and camaraderie. Physicians dedicate their lives to taking care of others. Physicians and medical students are encouraged to join PWT as they intend to spark a light of positive energy with a fun and entertaining way to celebrate.
“In hindsight, I am proud of what we have accomplished in a short period of time, including raising the recognition of our group and spotlighting the years of sacrifice by those in our profession to serve our patients. We are poised to initiate actionable efforts to engage and educate our physician community.” Dr. Kimberly Funches Jackson, President
During NPW 2019, Physicians Working Together will partner with OpenXMed to launch an exciting social media campaign that organically connects physicians and patients, themed “Physicians On Fire”. The activity was created to contrast but not belittle the ongoing physician burnout conversation. More events are scheduled to be announced on Best2Gether.org
In 2018, Physicians Working Together celebrated with their first, National Physician Week physician-led virtual conference. Co-hosted by Physicians Working Together and Zenxmed, the conference was complete with engaging speaker sessions and an open landscape for physicians to discuss ways to improve their practice, navigate the political landscape, and how to improve the relationship with patients and take action through advocacy groups.
In 2017, National Physicians Week focused on the shortage of physicians in the United States against a growing landscape of minorities joining the ranks of doctors across the country at a time when it needs it most.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Throughout the week, take the opportunity to show your support and appreciation for your physician or a fellow professional with a red carnation. Encourage others and spread the word through social media by using #NationalPhysiciansWeek #ThanksDoc #PWTPhysiciansOnFire #BestTogether #PWT.
HISTORY OF PWT
Physicians Working Together (PWT) was founded in June 2015 by Kimberly Funches Jackson
MD, uniting physicians of all levels of training and specialties. PWT provides a platform for doctors to combine efforts and find solutions through shared physician experiences. Bringing the ailing patient-doctor relationship back to the central focus of healing and respect spurred Dr. Jackson to form PWT and ultimately National Physicians Week, which celebrated its inaugural year in 2016. The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared National Physicians Week in December of the same year.
